It suggests surpassing one's own limitations. 40 km means it's supposed to be far. At night, it means being outside the comfort zone (e.g., sleep). Alone or in concentration, because it's time for one's own reflections. It turned out to be effective.

EDK is a personal experience. It's not a pilgrimage, it's a nocturnal adventure. You can go alone. You can go with two or a few people. However, it is necessary to agree that silence is obligatory during the journey.
On the EDK website and in the application, you can find and choose a route for yourself. On the way, you can follow the GPS trail using your phone. In that case, you need to secure yourself with a power bank. It's also good to print out the route description.
Safety must be ensured by oneself. The rules are similar to those on tourist trails. You can go with someone. It's good to arrange with someone close for potential phone contact.
It means far. 40 km, it could be more. Or 30 km and 500 m elevation gain. If it's not enough for someone, they can, of course, walk more. However, it should always be remembered that it's not a sport but a spiritual event.
EDK is not for everyone. Just like a marathon. You always have to train to give more of yourself. If someone sets out on the route and doesn't have the strength anymore, they can step off the route.
